The Best Wedding Accessories for Your Elopement or Micro Wedding

December 10, 2021

There are no rules when it comes to choosing attire and accessories for your elopement or micro wedding! We absolutely love when our couples branch out for the norm and incorporate unique details into their celebrations. For all of our brides out there, this one’s for you! We’ve rounded up our favorite accessory ideas to consider for your wedding day.

Veils

There’s nothing more classic bridal than a beautiful veil! It can be a major statement piece during your elopement if you opt for one with dramatic lace, pearl embellishments or even playing up the length (fingertip or cathedral length veils as an example). We love how veils contrast against nature and provide some unique photo-framing opportunities. Be sure to pin your veil with bobby pins in case it’s windy during your ceremony! This will help keep it from flying all over the place and getting stuck or damaged.

Headpieces

Feel like a queen on your wedding day with an eye-catching tiara or headpiece! You can usually find these at bridal boutiques or online (Etsy has a bunch!), or you can opt to create your own with natural floral pieces from your bouquet or using family heirlooms.

Flower Crowns

For all of our boho brides and flower lovers, this might be your must-have accessory. Create an extension of your beautiful bouquet around your head that will pop in all of your wedding photography. We’ve seen some incredible crown examples made of baby’s breath, lush greenery, tropical blooms and even silk flowers.

Hats

Maybe you aren’t one for glitz or flowers, so top it off with a hat! We love this relaxed vibe for elopements, and hats always make for a fun prop during photos. Go bold with a fun hat hue or stick to the classics and play with textures like wool and felt.

Capes or Wings

Now this ensemble addition is anything but traditional and absolutely fabulous. Capes and removable wings were a hot trend over the past year for weddings and elopements, as more brides opted to skip the veil and wanted to create transitional looks for receptions or after parties. These gorgeous additions are a YES for us!

Custom Jackets

Whether you’re always rocking a denim jacket or a leather moto style, customized wedding jackets are a great accessory for couples eloping in cooler temperatures or in the evening. We’ve seen everything from hand-painted creations to pearl embellishments, but the design is really completely up to you. You can DIY your own jacket or shop styles online!

Fur Coats or Wraps

Planning a true winter elopement? Consider a chic fur coat or wrap to throw on over your dress before or after the ceremony to keep you warm. These textural pieces always look amazing in wedding photography as they contrast against your dress.

Statement Jewelry Pieces

When in doubt, go big with your bling! We love vintage inspired jewelry pieces with unique stones, mixed metallics or intriguing shapes. It’s also a perfect opportunity to pull out family heirlooms that you’ve been saving for a special occasion.
